About

Kristi Kranz

Kristi is a longtime Big Island resident, whose lifetime passion for painting is inspired by the natural beauty around her.

Her silk wall hangings depict luminous visions of lush hideaways, waterfalls, ponds, flowers and dancers.  The flavors of the Orient and Hawaii combine to give the silks their unique style.

About her painting, Kranz says, “I have this space where I’m not looking for anything, just painting, where stuff slips down from the universe, through me and onto my silk, and it brings me the most joy I’ve ever felt.”

Kristi’s fine art can be found in Harbor Gallery in Kawaihae, Ackerman Gallery in Kapaau, across from the King Kamehameha statue and Colette’s Custom Framing in Kona.

Kristi’s hand painted silk clothing has been in fine boutiques island-wide for over 2 decades.  Clothing can be found at Ackerman Gallery and As Hawi Turns in Hawi.  She welcomes special orders, and one may arrange to visit her studio in Hawi.
In addition to her Gallery work, Kristi has produced fabric designs and clothing for several well known companies.  In 1999, she created a custom design for Jams World which became their best selling design of the season. In 2000-2001, Kranz created  4 collections of Handpainted Silks for Neiman Marcus in Honolulu.

In 2009, Kristi’s painting, “Pele’s Passion” was on the cover of Keola Magazine. Her painting HULA!!! is on inside cover of the March-April 2019. Her artwork has also been featured on the covers of the  Waimea and Kohala Directories several times, and is currently gracing the North Kohala Directory cover with her painting “Pele, Hi’iaka and Namaka”.
